Google vs. China pt. 2

After the hacked accounts fiasco a few months ago, Google and China look to be locking horns again.  Google is leaving China out of its new Nexus phone market.  Now, considering the phone hasn’t been proven as a big seller yet means this could either be ok for China.  It also could be real bad for China if the phone takes off.  Read more details here.

Google vs. China

Google is getting set to remove itself from China after learning of hackers attacking human rights activists into revealing e-mail accounts. This comes after Google has said in the past they would obey Chinese law concerning censorship of certain soci-political issues appearing on search results.

I appluad Google for taking this stand, even though this will probably strain Chinese-US relations.

I got this story from MSNBC.

Did anyone get the new Google phone?

Is there anyone out there who got the new Google Nexus One phone?  I’m curious what you think about it.  I’ve read some reviews, like this one, but I don’t have the money to get one now.  So, I’d like to hear from some people who have one and what you think of it.  Be honest, if you hate it, tell me so.  I want good information to determine if this is something worthwhile for me.

Google is entering the wireless market

It looks like Google is about to become more involved in the wireless market.  Behold the Nexus One.

Google is releasing this phone along with a vision statement of how to market it.  We’ve seen what Google has done to the internet with its search engine, so their plans for the cell phone should be very interesting.

Will Google become your electric company?

Many people think Google might become the largest most powerful company in the world and by their recent diversities in many different markets it seems like they are well on their way to reaching that goal. Who would have thought that the little search engine that could would become the biggest giant in the land? Well, Google is taking more steps to be the super power of the west by backing smart gird technology. They will become a leading partner in helping improve the United States very antiquated electrical grid. it makes sense. After All, if we don’t have electricity how can we log onto Google to find things?

Google sales drop

Yes, Google’s sales dropped in the 4th quarter but they out performed expectations. There is no doubt that Google Chrome and Android have been a big part of their sales numbers over the last three months. However, with sales down it’s clear that there is an obvious financial impact to Internet sales since Google makes most of its revenue from advertising mechanisms like Adsense and web hosting like Blogger.

With Microsoft’s layoffs of 5000 employees things are looking a bit tough for Internet based companies.

A Google desktop computer?

Are the T-Mobile Google G1 users the largest group of  guinea pigs in history or is something getting by us? It hasn’t been that long ago that Google put out there first attempt at a web browser with Google Chrome and two months ago they launched their own mobile operating system called Android. Do both of these seem like a precursor to a Google powered desktop computer? Now I thought a complete open sourced mobile platform was interesting and the Google market (download store) has absolutely blown up in just two months. You can find almost any program on there and they all install with ease.

I’m just now staring to hear the grumblings of little Microsoft and Mac users but give it another year or so and my bet in on Google for being a top competitor in the desktop market.

Google Earth on the iPhone

Neat!  Thats sums up Google’s newest app for the iPhone, Google Earth.  Now granted this is not a “new” app, but it is new to the iPhone platform and really is a great time waster.  Some issues are that it is not quite as smooth as some other apps and although free, can cost you money to load up if you’re roaming but it still is a nice addition to the iPhone.
