In an effort to draw in more customers, Starbucks is offering free unlimited Wi-Fi starting in July. Not all stores will have it, just the ones considered “company-operated.” So, before you toodle on down to your local Starbucks thinking you’ve got a free day of Wi-fi coming, you might want to just double check its availability.
We’ve all had to type a paper or report using Microsoft’s word processing program at one time or another. I can’t believe we have whittled the process of marital separation to an iPhone app. This is technology gone too far. The newest version of Microsoft’s Office software hits the shelves today. You can get the basic version for $150, the $280 version adds Outlook or the $500 package that has Publisher and Access, a database program. If any of these are too expensive, you can download the four core programs for free from the internet, just be prepared for some features to be missing.
Well, if at first you don’t get Verizon, try T-Mobile. I’m not holding my breath for this one after getting a little excited over Verizon, but an analyst believes that T-Mobile will offer the iPhone by 2011. Now, whether that is the first part of 2011 or the last part, he didn’t say. But trust him, he’s an analyst.
Since AT&T is planning on treating bytes like minutes, why not have rollover bytes. It would make sense and be somewhat fair. If someone doesn’t use their quota of bytes in their selected data plan, then they should be credited to the next month’s allotment. If we can have rollover minutes, I think we should be able to have rollover bytes.
In an effort to cash in on the Wii video game craze, Sesame Street will ship a cover for the Wii controller with copies of their new game for pre-schoolers. The cover is designed to hide unnecessary buttons and keep young children from getting to confused as to what to do. The covers will look like favorite Sesame Street characters.
Now, this I could really get into, especially for those long car trips. Netflix will have a streaming app on the new iPhone. so, when you want to pass the time waiting for a bus, your food or the car trip to be done, you can stream a Netflix movies directly to your iPhone.
You know, with all this talk of the iPhone and Verizon, I’ve been neglecting a certain smart phone that is actually gaining popularity and giving Apple a run for its money. The Droid, powered by Google, is gaining a lot of attention and taking a decent part of the smart phone market. So, this looks like it could turn into a two horse race; Apple’s iPhone vs. the Droid.
Well, it seems that the biggest thing about the new iPhone, other than it won’t be available for Verizon, is the new video chat feature. A camera on the front allows users of the new iPhone to see each other while they talk. Video talking is not new, but many think that now since Apple is endorsing it, it will go through the roof.
