Making changes at work!

We brought in a firm to help us streamline out Internet usage. Currently we run a T3 connection to our office and then route from there. However, we’re looking into using a satellite Internet provider as a possible solution for remote up-linking for management. We’ve looked into routers but we find them to be less then affective since they lose coverage when they leave the building. A satellite service could do the trick because they could remote up link whenever needed and stay connected to the VPN at all times.

This is the solution I’m pushing for but who knows! I don;t make the decisions!

Another month closes!

So it’s the end of June but honestly, it feels like the end of March where I’m located. It reached 80 twice here this month and I only had the air conditioning on once this year! The year is half over and it seems like it just started! Time seems to be speeding up and there is no way to stop it. Welcome to July everyone!

2012

has anyone seen the trailer for 2012 yet? Seriously, it has to be the most over done CGI flick of the century. I really hope this isn’t where the movie industry is going! I had too much CGI effects after a two minute trailer, I can;t imagine how much overload their will be watching the whole film! I wonder if any of this film was not filed in front of a green screen!

I need a change!

I seem to be in a rut lately! work, home, computer back to work. I’m starting to wear on me. I think I might apply for that show Beauty and a geek. I always enjoy watching how stereotypical it is and i think it would be fun to be on it so I could try a few new things. Oh, and I’d get to hang out with barely hot unintelligent girls! Gotta love the stereotypes!

I’d like to take a moment…

I’d like to take a moment to wish Steve Jobs a speedy recovery. From what I hear, he just had a kidney transplant to help recover fro his illness. He’s expected to be back at Apple at the end of the month but I’ve not heard if that’s actually going to happen. He’s proof that the little person can find a footprint in the market place and survive! Get well brother!

It’s time to make the change

it’s time to make the change from Blackberry to the new iPhone. I’ve been a long time BB user (last 5 years or so) and I’ve never come across anything that I thought might be better but BB is really dropping the ball with the 3G network and With all of the new applications on the iPhone 3Gs it’s just about time for me to make the jump! I just wish it wasn’t locked to AT&T!

Ever get bored?

Wow, it’s been one of those days! Only minor tickets to complete, no emergency issues and everything is running smooth! I even had time to log in from work and write this post! I’m bored and I have nothing productive to do. Too bad we’ve restricted 3rd party sites. No online video playing or You tube to keep me going! Maybe I’ll go break something so I can fix it!

For those of you who have missed it

palm-pre-1Palm Treo is back! Yes, the old PDA that fall by the side when Blackberry and Windows Mobile blew up. Does anyone remember the old Treo 600 or the Treo 650? At one time, Treo looked to be the number one device. Once they lost just about all of their market share everyone forgot who they were. Now they are out with several new devices with their Flag Ship device called the Pre taking on the form of a Windows Mobile device. It’s hard to tell if this device will get any market share back for Palm but it gives the consumer one more choice for a PDA!

A billion year storage device?

A nanoparticle is 1/50,000 the width of a human hair and it can now hold your data for a billion years! Currently all digital recording devices degrade over time but students at Bearkly are developing a storage device using nanoparticles that should be able to store data for just about forever with fear of loss. This is huge for preservation of our society and the commercial aspects will also be huge. I’m sure this technology is years away from the average user but it just goes to show you where we are headed!
