Action figures unite!

action_figure_009 If I ever had to visit a museum I’d want to visit the Toy and Action figure museum. Simply has to be one of the coolest places on Earth. Any self-respecting nerd collection action figures from he-men to Captain Power! All were acceptable and all were pure awesomeness! Anyone who was a serious collector should go out an check out this museum! I probably has enough action figures in my day to tart my own freak show of toys!

I guess every small town needs it’s attractions and this certainly looks like an attraction that is destined to end up in some low budget horror movie with some creepy curator of small toys. Look for it to come to theaters (or DVD) soon!

Kepler to find new Earth?

I’ve always thought it would be amazing to be involved with a project like this. Building something like a space traveling telescope to find new planets has got to be one of the coolest things a person could do for employment. It takes IT work to the next level. It really takes millions of man hours to put something like this into space and then maintain it while it is on its travels. I don’t know if it will find a new planet earth bit I know I’d fill out a job application for janitor just to be around this program!

A litle bit of G1 babble before the G2 comes out

Word has it, Apple was in discussions with Google before the launch of the G1 late last year. With underground news swirling around about the launch of the G2 it seems like old news but from what I’ve heard. The G2 will have many of the features Apple asked Google to omit from the HTC G1. I’ve been hearing news about a full touch screen that will give the G2 a clone like feel to the iPhone. If the G1 was the market test device then the G2 is surely what Apple has been worrying about.

How the White House was won-blogging style!

He’s at it again. Obama won the White House by reaching a new world of people on the Internet. He is the first and was the only one in this election that made serious use of the Internet. He used it for fund raising and for getting his views out to the world. It was brilliant then and is still brilliant. I think it’s great that Obama has been putting weekly speeches online. This is a first as well. I for one never listen to public radio and I rarely watch live TV any more so being able to view new videos online will help to keep me current. Also, it’s interesting to see that Obama has his own blog. That is another first that will surely go down as an additional means of communication. Republicans better get on board if they want to have any shot in 4 years!

Will Google become your electric company?

Many people think Google might become the largest most powerful company in the world and by their recent diversities in many different markets it seems like they are well on their way to reaching that goal. Who would have thought that the little search engine that could would become the biggest giant in the land? Well, Google is taking more steps to be the super power of the west by backing smart gird technology. They will become a leading partner in helping improve the United States very antiquated electrical grid. it makes sense. After All, if we don’t have electricity how can we log onto Google to find things?

Dell does something good? Yes they do!

I’ll be the first to admit that I wouldn’t go out and by a prepackaged Dell computer but I have to give them props for their recycling program expansion. Now in 17 states you can recycle your old computer equipment by taking it to the Goodwill. They will recycle, repair or break down your old computer for salvage. Why do this? Well, millions of pounds of electronic equipment go into landfills every year so for one, it will lower the amount of garbage. Second; it will give more disadvantaged people the ability to buy a computer or electronic equipment. So, props to Dell for a job well done!

Cuba getting expanded internet?

Wow, so we’ve gone from Bay of pigs to watching Youtube online in the great underworld of Cuba? my how times have changed. With brother Castro in office technology has been in the forefront of the government mind. People have access to simple items like Cell phones and microwaves at costs low enough that an average wage earner can afford. Now it looks like Castro has decided to give the people access to the Internet. ‘m always the skeptic but this surely looks like great advancement for the country and it will surely open up many jobs in the IT fields…just have to move to Cuba to get the job!

Admittedly I do not Twitter but millions of people have really started to use the service. Well, if you are one of those twittering fools then you’ll be happy to know that the Twitter founders are not becoming greedy…yet! I’ve had a lot of people tell me that blog management and accounts such as twitter have been passed down to the IT world so you’ll be happy (or unhappy) to hear that corporate twitter accounts will remain free and thus will remain a viable marketing solution for a while!

Blackberry is still doing okay

In the midst of most companies downsizing some companies are ding dine. It’s no surprise that the wireless market has seen below average declines in revenue and with the recent agreement for Blackberry to purchase Certicom it’s obvious that Rim is looking to broaden it’s market share. The strategic reason for this purchase it to help strengthen security on the blackberry. I wonder if this has anything to do with President Obama’s lengthy debate of the use of his Blackberry. Regardless for the reason it’s obvious to see that some electronic markets are still thriving in an otherwise bleak environment.

Beauty and the geek

Okay, since I’m sure I got everyone hooked on Geek TV the other day I have been wondering if any other geeks watch Beauty and the Geek? Well, I have watched it in the past and what annoys me more than those brainless beauties is the fact that they stereotype everyone and then try to make them dynamic like the geeks become dudes and the blonds become…well, they can’t pull that off! It’s okay entertainment but mindless all the same. Might be worth a watch if Deep space 9 reruns aren’t on!
