Happy Holidays everyone!

Well tomorrow is the big day! I hope everyone is as excited as I am this year. I don’t expect to get much as I’ve finally grown up enough to understand the true spirit of giving and I’m uber excited to see my family open the gifts that I thoughtfully got them to celebrate the day.

I hope everyone has a happy holiday and don’t forget about all the sales on 2008 tech gear that will be starting bright and early on the 26th!

One Mistake Many Businesses Make

From small business to big business there is one thing that everyone wants to achieve and that is efficiency.  However, it’s tough to attain efficiency when you have so many people doing the tedious and mundane part of running the business when they should instead be looking to improve application availability – which enables those folks to concentrate on strategic, value added projects.

A small business will grow and becomes more innovative if time is better spent on the more important projects and the time consuming, manually intensive aspects can take car of themselves!

The new Macbook design

The new Macbook is out in stores and I had to go check them out in person. I have mixed reactions. The appearance is basically the same. Square lines, lackluster styling but with a gray aluminum “Motorolla V3″ look to them. I’m sure it’s a stellar performer just like all of the previous Macbooks but my current laptop is less than a year old and with a better video card, larger hard drive and faster processor it still isn’t enough to get me to shell out $1200.00 for it. Once mine is out of warranty I might get it.

On a side note, the Apple sales rep had nothing nice to say about  the Mac Air. I’m glad I stayed away from it and didn’t fall for the hype becuase Apple does a good job of supporting thier products and this is the second sales rep that had nothing positive to say about it.

Making Managing a Small Business Easier

If you run the technical end of a small business the you must know it can be a tedious job.  Being the ‘IT’ guy isn’t an easy task.  I am always looking for some type of technology to maker my job easier.  The servers are my biggest problems!

I recently found a company with probably the best PC support that is out there these days.  This is a definite lifesaver for me as I try to do my day to day job.

Is your USB cool again?

What’s hotter (I mean cooler) than your firewire port? Well your USB port  of course! I can almost see the confused look on your face. A Firewire is light years ahead of the likely unused USB ports collecting dust on your computer. Wait! Resurrect those old forgotten frends and use them to cool down your soda.

I know…it’s a lot of drama for an old product but this is the first I’ve heard about them. A USB powered frdige! If only they could figure out a way to microwave a burrito from USB I’d never have to leave my computer.

A Google desktop computer?

Are the T-Mobile Google G1 users the largest group of  guinea pigs in history or is something getting by us? It hasn’t been that long ago that Google put out there first attempt at a web browser with Google Chrome and two months ago they launched their own mobile operating system called Android. Do both of these seem like a precursor to a Google powered desktop computer? Now I thought a complete open sourced mobile platform was interesting and the Google market (download store) has absolutely blown up in just two months. You can find almost any program on there and they all install with ease.

I’m just now staring to hear the grumblings of little Microsoft and Mac users but give it another year or so and my bet in on Google for being a top competitor in the desktop market.
